After not playing very much online since Vegas I thought it was about time I started pulling my finger out and start playing again..

So just last night I managed to cash in 2nd place for $414 in the Poker Trillion Punters Lounge v Blonde Forum Challenge. Not only did I win the money but I also got 4 points for Punters Lounge.

I have also done quite well playing Sit N Go's lately.... having accumulated about €100 just playing small stakes (€3 and €5 tourneys).... so running hot playing live and online it seems!!

Qualified for league final at Grosvenor...

Due to my successes at Grosvenor this month I have managed to qualify for the 30 player league final to be played on Sunday!

The league had been running from the middle of June until August 24th and I managed to sneak my way into the top 30 after having only 3 points on 5th August..... I managed to accumulate 84 points in total to finish 22nd!!

Looking forward to the final, however I have been seated on a very tough table so it will be very challenging!

The winner will walk away wit £2000, 2nd gets £1000 and 3rd will get £500!

August has officially been the most successful month of my poker playing career.

After playing in the PokerPlayer champs and doing well I had the urge to play live more.... I usually play online but had got a bit sick and hadn't played much since Vegas!

First off I went to the Grosvenor casino on the Wednesday after the PP Champs to play the £15 freezeout and after playing some of the best poker I've ever played, I won the tourney and got £289!

Next I went back to the Grosvenor on the Saturday for the £10 rebuy and managed to final table again, chopping with four left for £214 each!

I then went to the Circus casino and played in the £30 double chance freezeout and finished 4th in this for £130.... I got a sick beat in this with four left which would have gave me 3/4 of the chips in play if my hand had held up!

I had now cashed in four LIVE MTT tournaments in a row, I'd done this online but not live!

And that wasn't it, I have one tournament since (Saturday night Grosvenor £10 rebuy for £322) and cashed in another (Sunday tournament at Grosv, 4th for £90ish)

So a very good month for me, with a very profitable outcome..... hoping to keep this winning streak going!

As for the tournament, well this was what I posted on PL after..

'Enjoyed this tournament but can't really say that I was overly happy with my play! I've played a lot better in other tournaments and haven't even got close to a final table!

I got quite lucky in the second hand of the tournament when I had 4k of my 5k stack in the middle on a bluff.... luckily I didn't get called!

Managed to get up to around 11k at the first break after the main hand being when I had KQ on a Q high board... pushed it all in only to get called by the small stack who had AA!! I hit a K on the turn which was a bit sick to knock that player out!

I had some really nice hands after the break, the main one being when I won a 7k pot when my set of 8's was better than my opponents set of 4's!! However only managed to have about 14k at the second break.

After the 2nd break I got some cracking hands... can't remember them now but I know that everytime I went in I had the best hand and it held up! Got upto about 52k at the third break with 18 players left!Blinds were getting far too big after the third break and ppl were just pushing and folding from then on really! I just kept stealing the odd blinds, however a lack of cards meant by the time it got to the final table I only had 34k left!

Slick Mick went out in 10th for £50 when his A10 push in the SB ran into JJ wich held up!

A big hand for me was with 9 left, I was on around 40k and in the BB with 88.... it folded round to the short stacked button who pushed for 14k (blinds 4k/8k)... the SB called the 14k and I came over the top and went all in.... the SB folded!

Button flipped over 9d 10d

The flop came Jd 6d 3c which gave him loadsa outs.... the turn was the 9s.... which meant I had 1 out to win the hand...... and bob's ya uncle.... the 8c drops down on the river and I took down a 40k pot!

No more real hands to mention after that, the blinds were just so big that I basically just got blinded out! I pushed my 26k stack in when it had folded round to me in the SB (Q8) only to get called by the BB who was holding AJ..... no help for me and I was out in 6th Place for £280!'

As for the share deal, my £280 win meant that each share bought for 55p was now worth £1.68!!

Staking required for PokerPlayer Champs Newcastle!

I will be playing in the PokerPlayer Champs next saturday (Aug 2nd) and have decided to try something different...
I am going to try and get staked in this event by offering shares in me...

The event is a £50+3.50 freezeout with 100 runners...
Im offering a 1% share in me for the event at £0.55 each, you can buy as many as you want up to a maximum of 100 shares.

I'll be giving back 60% of any winnings from this event to my shareholders, so if you bought 50% of my shares for £27.50 you would then get back 30% of anything that i win.

In other words, if you bought 50% of my shares at £27.50 and I won first prize of £1700 you would get back £510!

If I fail to sell the full 100 shares then I will not go ahead with this offer!

APAT Team Champs, Blackpool, 19th July!

I played the APAT Team championship tournament last Saturday and I was part of the Punters Lounge team!

You could get odds of 125/1 for me to win the tourney on BlueSquare which some of my friends took up but unfortunately I was unable to deliver on this occasion but did give it a good shot!

Enjoyed this game a lot though!
I managed to get up to about 14/15k but then went onto lose about 8k in one pot and stayed steady on 5k/6k for about 2 hours!
I then doubled up with JQc when I hit top two pair on the flop, then went onto double up again with 10Js when hitting the nut straight!

Eventually got upto about 50k before blowing up with 88 against JJ. Blinds 1k/2k, i limped in mid position, big stack raised to 8k which I called, flop came down 9 5 5, he bet another 8k, I thought that was a continuation and instantly put him on AJ, AQ, and re-raised to 24k, he went into the tank and went all in, I look down at my stack and realise I only have about 12k left and with a 60k+ pot in the middle I figured I couldnt really fold and made the call.
Jacks held and that was me in 65th!

However was a good experience and really enjoyed it, I think a lack of experience in these games played a part in the eventual outcome! A big well done to Ross (Rosco) for finishing 12th and getting all of the PL points!

Aspers, Wednesday 16th July, 5th Place!

I played the Wednesday night game at Aspers (£10 with 1 rebuy and 1 add on, 72 runners) and managed to get to the break without having to rebuy and not needing an add on as I had around 10k!

I managed to make the final table by the skin of my teeth with a short stack (16k, blinds 2k/4k).

The blinds were going up to 3k/6k in 2 minutes so I had to move fast and luckily found AQ UTG and pushed it in but without any callers. Very next hand, I'm BB and face a raise from the button and I find AA... happy days!!! I push it in and my opponent (Darren Laverick, Virgin Festival Newcastle winner) insta calls with QQ..... My AA holds up and all of a sudden I'm up to 42k!!

3 or 4 more hands later I'm in the action again when I'm faced with a decision. UTG+1 has raised all in for 17k and I look down at AK off-suit, I elect to push my stack in and manage to push the other players out!
My AK goes up against 33 and an Ace on the flop wins the pot for me.... I've got about 70k now!!

The big hands comes about 10 hands later when down to 8 players...
Darren Laverick has pushed all in for 20k and I look down at QQ and push my stack of 70k in, the BB pushes all in for 50k.... I may be in trouble I think, he's gota have a monster to call that!!

But no..

Both players have AQ.... I'm loving it... dodge the two aces in the pack or a miracle straight and I've got more that 3/4 of the chips in play and looking huge favourite to take it down...
But as always is the case for me it seems when I get down to the final table the ace hits the flop and I'm drawing dead as my 2 outs are in each players hands!

Still all is not lost and I still have 20k.... again I build back up with some blind stealing and I am up to 40k-45k with 5 left but with blinds at 5k/10k!

I look down at AQd UTG and obviously push all in and the SB (Darren Laverick) calls with A10, the 10 hits the flop and I'm out in 5th for £110.... a good game just didn't get the luck in the crucial stages!!

Vegas Report....

Wow! That's the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Vegas now!

This was the first time I've been to Vegas and by God it won't be the last! Morlspin guaranteed me that I'd love it and he wasn't wrong!

It was a hell of a journey to get there but it was worth it! We flew at 7am to London from Newcastle and then had to wait 6 hours in London before flying to New York which was an 8 hour journey! We got to New York and Morlspin's case didn't turn up! (Great start)... he ended up gettin his bag on the tuesday though so not all bad! We then flew from New York and got to Vegas at about 2am local time (10am UK time, a 27 hour journey!!)

Anyways, our first tournament was at Planet Hollywood ($80 buy in) and I was out after 3 hands when I ran QQ into AA. Fortunately I rebought back in as an alternate which you can do in Vegas and managed to make final table and finish 5th for $285... a $125 profit!! Good start!

On the same night we went back to the MGM and I decided to play a bit of cash! I never play cash normally but thought what the hell, it's Vegas baby!!

Anyways, to cut a long story short I managed to walk away from the cash table $500 up with the main hand being my AA going up against KK all in pre flop for a pot of $700!! Happy Days, I love Vegas!!!

We played about 3 or 4 more tourneys throughout the week and I managed to cash in Caesars Palace albeit 10th place for my money back!

We did play a big tourney at Binions in the Binions Poker Classic where I went quite deep.

With a quality field of 150 players, a deep stack, excellent structure and the buy in of $200 it was a great tournament!

Unfortuantely, I gt dealt total trash for 2 hours and couldn't steal a pot as it was always raised before me and ended up getting blinded away and finished 20th (top 14 cashed).

I ended up being about $100 up overall on the poker front but did spend about £500 on various things, can't think how I spent that much, let's just say I had quite a lot to drink and also deffo got spiked!!

To round up, an excellent trip away with the main highlight's being Doyle Brunson's BLUFF party (free entry, free drink, goodie bags), also seeing all the pros, main players being Doyle, Negreanu, Devilfish, Tony G, Marcel Luske, Joe Hachem!

Can't wait to go back in a year or two!

Building a Bankroll... (On Hold)

Have decided to put this on hold for a while as haven't been playing much online poker recently, in fact I haven't played any online poker since I cam back from Vegas.... will be back with this eventually though!

Well it was a good tourney this one, 100 runners with a guaranteed prize pool of £5000 (niceeee!!)

Unfortunately lady luck did not shine on me this time!

Started off very well getting up to about 13k in the first hour from 5k starting stack. Stayed steady on 13k for a couple of hours before my infamous 'Geodigaz blow up' occurred when i bluffed half my stack off when I had missed my gut shot str8 draw and flush draw.

That left me with 5k and with blinds at 400/800, UTG+1 raised to 2600 and I push with QQ, he calls showing 9h 10h. Flop is a nice A 6 A, turn 9, river.... 9 ! Gutted! Out in 47th.

Will be playing the next leg of this in Newcastle on August 2nd for which I am hoping to get staked... (see post above)!

PokerPlayer Champs - Bolton, Saturday 7th June

This Saturday I am away to Bolton to play in the first leg of the PokerPlayer Champs 08.

The tourney is a £50 buy in with a capacity field of 100 expected. The winner receives a GUKPT seat aswell as a final seat to the PokerPlayer Grand final at the Vic where 7 players will compete for a £2500 prize pool and a GUKPT Grand Final seat.

Building a Bankroll (Week 2)

A mixed week this week for me. I've noticed that its been a lot harder to cash since hitting the €180 mark. Not sure why this is but I do know that I'm playing the same games the same way but I have seen that I'm getting outdrawn a lot more.

I also lost my discipline and broke the rules that I laid down last week. I wasn't having much success in the €5 games so hastily decided to play some €10 games and then when I got really bored I risked the majority of my bankroll on a €30 game which looking back was extremely risky and I won't be doing it again. However I did win the €30 game which took me over €200 from my original €22 stake.

I then cashed out €193 on Monday and left around €30 in my account so that I wouldn't risk my bankroll like I had with the €30 game I played.

However, since cashing out I have not cashed in a game since going back to the €5 levels and I'm now down to €16 and need a win or two quickly or else I may need to reload.

One other point to mention is that I am now working full time at my job so do not have as much time for poker as I have had in the last few weeks and I am also coming in shattered and then playing poker when tired which is obviously a school boy error.

Punters Lounge Poker Night

On Saturday, myself, Rachel (Mrs Geordigaz) and Morlspin went down to Birmingham to play in a poker night organised by PL at Barries. I was working on Saturday morning so we had to get the later train at 3.30pm. We got into Birmingham at around 6.30pm and quickly headed over to the Etap where we were staying and had a quick shower before heading over to Barries.

We got to Barries and we met the PLers who were great crack as usual.

Onto the main poker tourney, it was a £10 buy in with around 24 runners. The crack on our table was mint with Kevsul not shutting up and keeping us all amused. I played quite a tight game, not really picking up many hands but gradually building my stack, best hand was KK which didn't really get paid off. Typical!!!

It got to the latter stages and I had around 7.5k from my original 4k starting stack. The blinds were 300/600 and UTG raised to 1800, I look down and push my stack in with AQo only to get a reluctant call and I'm up against AK. Typical!!!

Anyway lost the hand and out of the tourney in 10th, bubbling the final table. Typical!!!

After having a few too many vodka/lemonade's me and Rach left early to get a good nights sleep! ;-)

Woke up next morning to see Morlspin with the trophy! Oh dear! Not another one!!

Anyways, excellent night and can't wait til the next one!!

Building a Bankroll...(Week 1)

I've had a fairly good start to my attempt at building a poker bankroll.

I set up a spreadsheet to keep track of my winnings and losses (left) and I'm glad I done that because it is really helping me.

After 5 days I am over £70 in profit from my original €22 stake, this should have been a lot better if I hadn't of had a mad moment on Tuesday where I played higher stakes when I am not ready for that yet.

After analyzing my first few days of this I have made some general rules for myself which I will need to keep to be successful in my attempt. They are...

1. Stay at the €5 buy ins until I reach a profit of £450.
2. Once I have hit either a €30 profit or a €30 loss I will stp playing for that evening.
3. Stick to short handed tables unless I am in the right frame of mind to play patient poker.

Pokerkings League Update...

I have played a few more of these tournaments in the last few days, making the final table on Saturday and Sunday thus gaining leaderboard points. However, disappointing finishes of 7th and 8th meant I only gained an extra 19 points to my tally, which to be honest is not enough at this late stage of the month.

This meant that Monday's tournament was of big importance as you can gain double points. To cut a long story short, I busted out after 20 minutes when my pocket Q's were busted on the river by K10os.

Since then I have not played anymore games as I feel I am too far off the pace on the leaderboard and I don't think I will play another game this month and will probably have a month off from the league next month.

Building a bankroll!

I have always withdrew any big winnings from online poker and used it for other things, however I am always having to keep depositing because of this.

I have decided to do something about this and attempt to build a healthy bankroll which could help me for spending money for vegas.

I have downloaded CelebPoker which is on the Boss Media network and have deposited €22. I am going to use this site solely to build my bankroll starting with 5 man €5 STT buy ins. I have played a few of these on other Boss sites and have cashed nearly every time so I think this will be a good place to start. If I am successful I will gradually move up the levels to €10 etc...

I will report back every week on my blog with winnings and losses. Hopefully I will be succesfull!

Pokerkings Poker League

This league has been a favourite of mine for a month or two.
It consists of nightly tourneys every night with a buy in of €3 and normally about 20 runners. Points are given to the top 10 with 1st place getting 50 points, 2nd place getting 40 points etc...
The top ten overall points scorers at the end of the calendar month get a cash prize ranging from €1000 for 1st place down to €12 for 10th.

Anyways, in April I played this very occasionally and had a good run where I finished in the top 2 of the nightly tourneys 4 out of 5 nights. I ended up finishing 8th in the league for €24.

This month I have started to concentrate a lot more on the league, however I am not really doing as well as April. I've had a few wins and 3 or 4 final tables but I am languishing in 11th place at the moment in the league. Watch this space...

Vegas here I come!!

Well I've been debating it all year whether or not to go to Vegas!

On tuesday just gone, morlspin twisted my arm enough and I decided to book up. We are flying out from London on 28th June and returning on the 5th July, think we're gona stay at the MGM which will be amazing!

With lots of members of the Punters Lounge forum flying out too this will no doubt be a cracking week!! Really looking forward to it!

Online Wins so far in May!

I used to play most of my online poker on William Hill and did have some success over the year or two I've played there, My biggest win being $1600 in a $20 MTT.

However since joining the Punters Lounge forum in March I have started to play a lot more on Boss Media sites such as Virgin, Pokerkings, Poker Trillion (has recently moved to a different network.

I have had much more success with these sites, not sure why, maybe better blind structures or worse/better players, not really sure but I do enjoy these sites now.

My first win in May was on the Pokerkings site. It was a €22 rebuy which had 91 runners. I managed to finish 5th for a nice €347!!

The next win in May was a week later when I beat 147 runners in a €22 freezeout on Virgin poker for a lovely €900 win! My biggest win for over a year!!!

I have also had a smaller win this month in the Pokerstars $100k guaranteed.

This tourney had 23,118 runners with a $10 buy in and I managed to finish in 715th for $69.36!

APAT Newcastle Regional 10th May

Haven't had much success with the APAT games this year and this regional was no exception.

Walked in 5 minutes late a bit hungover after a heavy night. Still I was feeling quite good and up for this game, was really wanting to prove myself after being very poor in the last few regionals.

Anyways, very first hand I find KK in lateish position. It folds round to me and with the blinds 25/50 I make it 200. Only the BB calls.
The flop comes down Q Q 5, BB checks and I bet out 200 again and was insta called, at this point I'm worried that he may have the Q and decide to slow it down.

The turn comes a rag and the BB bets out 300 so I decide to just call as I'm not 100% certain where I stand, I'm thinking it's a bit of a funny bet if he has the Q and think that I am probably still ahead.

The river comes another Q so the board is now reading Q Q Q 5 x and I'm sitting with a full house. I'm now very confident that I'm ahead, the BB bets out again a weak looking bet of 200, I raise to 1500, he insta pushes all in for an extra 400 and I announce that I'm beat by quads to which others around the table say 'no, you're not beat by quads', I obviously call the extra 400 and of course is shown quads.

Anyways, I announce that these APAT games just don't like me. (in the last APAT regional I was one of the first ones out when I flopped the nut str8 when holding A10 with the flop showin KJQ only for another player having KKK and turning the full house!)

Back to this game and I still had 270 chips left. To cut a long story short I luckily managed to get back to 3k stack after 2 hours patient poker, however I eventually got blinded away and finished in 7th place for nowt!

I have been playing poker for nearly 4 years now and before this year I'd had quads only once and that was playing live in my local club.

Unbelievably, I have had quads FOUR times already this year!!
